You can judge from the sky that it wasn't fine and sunny, but at least it didn't rain though the breeze was 'fresh'. The annual game of cleaning the domes, after the rigours of winter, with the regular helpers and some others too, most welcome. We're getting better at it too with Mark bringing his jet washer. Some others had similar tools and intended to bring them next year. It certainly got the durt off more easily, but gave us the worry of wetting the insides too. Indeed water did get into the small dome and onto the telescope but it was waterproof and shed it easily. Onto some of the eyepieces in their tray on the outside of the cupboard and onto those eyepieces that had been stored upside down! Drying out now but we must take care next time. Helpers were Dave and Lesley, Paul and Elaine, Mark, Rhys, Sue, Peter and Phil.
The following day was the Centre's May Day celebration, an open day with games for children, food and drinks and other stalls. We opened the domes and Sandra brought he Planets game too. The sky started poorly but progressively improved so that the PST in the big dome and the White Light filter in the small dome entertained a reasonably steady stream of visitors, though the day wasn't well filled with the general public, certainly not as well populated as last year when the Tour de Yorkshire came through the village.
